50 years, June 5th 2004
The music started playing as you walked into the room
Whatever I was saying no-one heard
And the moment that you took my hand that song became our tune
All the verses and the chorus, I remember every word
Whatever I was saying no-one heard
And the moment that you took my hand that song became our tune
All the verses and the chorus, I remember every word
The band was playing softly as you led me to the floor
Your smile was bright, your eyes were shining blue
But the beauty of your spirit was the only thing I saw
The band romanced, and as we danced, I fell in love with you
Your smile was bright, your eyes were shining blue
But the beauty of your spirit was the only thing I saw
The band romanced, and as we danced, I fell in love with you
And we sang our song with feeling, we never missed a beat
From the dance floor to the ceiling, that ballroom felt the heat
And ever since that evening, from the moment that we met
We’ve sung that song together in our fifty-year duet
From the dance floor to the ceiling, that ballroom felt the heat
And ever since that evening, from the moment that we met
We’ve sung that song together in our fifty-year duet
I love the simple melody, the words that ring so true
And all the happy memories they bring
And every time that tune begins I give my hand to you
For the times we’ve danced together, and you’ve made my spirit sing
And all the happy memories they bring
And every time that tune begins I give my hand to you
For the times we’ve danced together, and you’ve made my spirit sing
And we sang that song with feeling, we never missed a beat
We had that dance floor reeling, everybody on their feet
And ever since that evening, from the moment that we met
We’ve sung that song together in our fifty-year duet
We had that dance floor reeling, everybody on their feet
And ever since that evening, from the moment that we met
We’ve sung that song together in our fifty-year duet
Musical bridge
Well the music never changes and the words still mean as much
As on that night we met as strangers long ago
And though time has changed the tempo I still love to feel your touch
As we take the floor together and they play our song real slow
As on that night we met as strangers long ago
And though time has changed the tempo I still love to feel your touch
As we take the floor together and they play our song real slow
And we sing that song with feeling, we never miss a beat
From the dance floor to the ceiling, that ballroom gets a treat
They say nothing lasts forever, but this dance will never end
You’ve been fifty years my partner now, and fifty years my friend
From the dance floor to the ceiling, that ballroom gets a treat
They say nothing lasts forever, but this dance will never end
You’ve been fifty years my partner now, and fifty years my friend
You’ve been fifty years my partner now, and fifty years my friend
